The San Diego Toreros take the hardwood versus the Loyola Marymount Lions in a West Coast opener.
The San Diego Toreros were not expected to do a whole lot and the team did struggle to a 4-12 conference record which was good for the basement in the Big West while going 9-20 overall. In a conference bursting at the seams with big scoring offenses the Toreros struggled to score at less then 61 points on 39% shooting while allowing 69 points. SD had lost seven of ten to end the regular season and if they expect to last in the league playoffs the team will need some scoring punch. Duda Sanadze is the lone double digit scorer at 12 points although seven players average between 5-8 points and several will need to step up in the scoring department.

The Loyola Marymount Lions were really not a factor in the Big West as their problem was getting stops at the defensive end of the floor. The Lions could score at 72 points but so could the opposition at almost 76 points on 46%. LMU ended the year at 13-16 and owned a 6-10 record in the conference and if they expect to extend their season they will need to score a bunch of points and hope their defense gets enough stops to pull out the win. Leading scorer Adom Jacko averages almost 17 points and a team high 6.4 rebounds but he is listed as questionable with a back issue. Brandon Brown and Steven Haney bring 12.6 and ten points to the table but the fate of Loyola Marymount likely rests on the health of Jacko.
The over is 7-1 in Loyola Marymount last 8 overall and is 7-1 in their last 8 vs. West Coast while the under is 9-2 in their last 11 neutral site games. San Diego are 7-2 ATS in the last 9 meetings. These teams are in the play in game for a reason but if Jacko is out I guess San Diego?
