The Long Island Blackbirds know their only hope of reaching the NCAA’s is by winning the Northeast playoffs. They took step one with an 84-76 versus Sacred Heart Wednesday as a two point underdog. The Blackbirds jumped to a 14 point lead in to the locker room before holding off a Pioneers late rally. The Blackbirds burned the nets at nearly 55% with SHU connecting at 44%. Joel Hernandez led five LIU double digit scorers with 22 points and seven boards with Iverson Fleming netting 18 points. Martin Hermannsson added 13 points and six assists while Glenn Feidanga and Jerome Frink scoring ten points each and combining for eleven rebounds.

The Wagner Seahawks were hot heading in to the Northeast quarterfinals and stayed hot with a 59-50 victory versus Robert Morris as a ten point favorite for win number six in a row. The Seahawks were up five at the half and held serve the rest of the way with 34% shooting and nine more looks at the basket adding up to four more field goals versus the 32% shooting Colonials. Mike Aaman paced the Seahawks with 12 points and eight rebounds on 4-8 with Corey Henson adding ten points and six pulls. Michael Carey and Romone Saunders each netted nine points and grabbed seven and 14 rebounds respectively while Aaron Edmead chipped in with eight points.
