The Miami (Ohio) Redhawks oppose the Ball State Cardinals in a MAC opener on Monday.
The Miami (Ohio) Redhawks struggled through a 12-19 season and their 6-12 conference mark was next to last in the MAC East. Scoring was the primary concern at 63 points which made their 68 points allowed a huge number to overcome. The Redhawks were catching on as the regular season was closing with three consecutive wins before ending the year with a two point loss to Ohio. With wins versus Akron and Kent State this team is a bit of a mystery but the bottom line is points must be scored to advance in the playoffs so team leaders Eric Washington (14 ppg) and Geovonie McKnight (13 ppg) might need to produce even more with no other player averaging more then six points.

The Ball State Cardinals enjoyed a successful and unexpected 19-12 season but sputtered to the finish line with losses in three of four to miss out on 20 victories. Despite the season ending skid the Cardinals still managed to finish atop the MAC West with a 10-8 record although that didn’t get them a bye in to the conference quarterfinals. Ball State outscored opponents 71-67 but didn’t come close to these numbers during the season ending slowdown and need to right the ship. Franko House is the top scorer at 12 points and 5.5 boards with Bo Calhoun averaging eleven points and nearly nine rebounds and this duo can not afford to have an off day in the one and done tournament.
The over is 9-4-1 in Ball State last 14 overall and is 9-4-1 in their last 14 vs. Mid-American. Miami (Ohio) are 13-4 ATS in the last 17 meetings. Miami (Ohio) was playing their best against the best in the MAC the last few weeks so I’ll take the points…
