The Colorado State Rams and Boise State Broncos will face off in the quarterfinals of the Mountain West Men’s Championship this Wednesday night at the Thomas & Mack Center.

Colorado State was outstanding on the offensive end as they shot 54.9% from the field and 40.0% (8-20) from beyond the arc. The Rams held the Spartans to 35.9% shooting from the field and 14.3% (3-21) from three-point range. Leading the way for Colorado State was Antwan Scott who had 17 points, 9 rebounds, and 2 assists. The Boise State Broncos had an up and down season and finished the year with a 20-11 record while earning the 3-seed with a 11-7 conference record. The Broncos were able to get a big victory on the road at San Diego State in late January, but ended the season with a bad loss on the road against San Jose State. On the season, the Broncos have been led by James Webb III who averaged 15.8 ppg on 49.4% shooting while pulling down 9.2 rpg. Also contributing for the Broncos this season has been Anthony Drmic (13.4 ppg, 4.5 rpg, 1.4 apg), Mikey Thompson (11.9 ppg, 2.8 rpg, 3.7 apg, 1.1 spg), and Nick Duncan (11.2 ppg, 4.2 rpg, 1.8 apg). Offensively, Boise State is averaging 77.4 ppg on 45.2% shooting from the field and 33.2% shooting from beyond the arc. The Broncos average 8.2 three-pointers per game and have an assist/turnover ratio of 1.14. Defensively, Boise State is allowing their opponents to average 69.6 ppg on 44.4% shooting. The Broncos have a rebound margin of 2.2 and a turnover margin of 3.1.
The Rams are 20-7 ATS in thier last 27 Thursday games and 17-38-1 ATS in thier last 56 games following a straight up win. The Broncos ar 4-0 ATS in thier last Thursday games and 4-1-1 ATS in thier last 6 vs. Mountain West opponents.
Colorado State and Boise State split their regular season series as both won their home games by a 4-point margin. Colorado State suffered a tough loss after losing Gian Clavell for the season in December but still had a solid season behind the play of Antwan Scott who earned Second Team All-Mountain this season. Boise State has been solid on both sides of the ball and although their defense doesn’t create many turnovers, the Broncos have one of the best turnover margins in the country as they don't commit many turnovers on offense. The line has yet to be posted in this one but as I believe Colorado State will be getting a few points, I’m currently leading towards taking the Rams as I think this one is going to come down to the wire. Please check back for updates when the line has been posted.
Update (11:56 AM EST) - The Rams are getting more points than I expected so I'm sticking with Colorado State in this one.
