I know the Southland gets overlooked quite a bit although I think there are some dangerous squads there. At the same time this is a top heavy conference which makes 5th place finisher the Houston Baptist Huskies a bit of a mystery. The Huskies missed out on a top four spot with a 10-8 league and were one of five teams to end the year with a winning record at 16-15. HBU was a great offensive club at 77 points on 48% marksmanship while allowing almost 76. However this team lost their magic over the last month in losing eight of ten where the defense was shredded. The Huskies are led in the scoring department by Anthony Odunsi with his 18 points and 10+ scorers Colter Lasher and John Ibarra but the question is can the defense get at least a few stops.
I think Southeastern Louisiana will have to shoot well and score to stay with Houston Baptist . In some ways I think playing in the opener gives a team an advantage sometimes but Houston Baptist will no doubt be prepared after watching the Lions light up the scoreboard. Conflicting numbers abound so I'll take the points…
