The Stephen F. Austin Lumberjacks take the hardwood with the Houston Baptist Huskies in a Southland semifinal.
The Houston Baptist Huskies seemed ripe for the pickings in their quarterfinal match up with the Southeastern Louisiana Lions but they had enough to grab a 73-68 victory to end a four game slide and advance to the conference semis. The Huskies were up 13 after 20 minutes and had to stave off a late Lions rally to secure the win. SELO held a slight 39%-37.7% shooting edge with six more makes at the stripe being the difference. Anthony Adunsi saved the HBU offense with 20 points and nine rebounds with Asa Cantwell netting 15 points. Reveal Chukwujekwu and Colter Lasher combined for 20 points with Lasher snagging eight boards.

The Stephen F. Austin Lumberjacks are the face of the Southland and that didn’t change this season with another great performance with an 18-0 mark in the conference. The Lumberjacks were 25-5 altogether with the best scoring and defense in the Southland leading the way to another successful campaign. SFA torched the nets at almost 80 points on 48.5% marksmanship while allowing 63 points which was #14 in the game. Double digit victories have been commonplace but the team can’t let their guard down with that huge bull’s eye on their backs. A trio of DD scorers lead the Lumberjacks offense with Thomas Walkup averaging 17 points and seven boards on 59.5% shooting with Demetrius Floyd and Clide Geffard Jr. adding 13+ points. SFA sees plenty of scoring from the bench given that many games are one sided.
The under is 7-1 in Houston Baptist last 8 neutral site games and is 7-3 in their last 10 overall. The Lumberjacks have made a habit of 20+ point wins so I guess I have to go with potential here...
