The Pirates are 13-3 ATS in their last 16 vs. Big East opponents and 20-5-1 ATS in thier last 26 Saturday games. The Wildcats are 35-17-1 ATS in thier last 53 games vs. a team wiith a winning straight up record and 2-5 ATS in their last 7 games overall.
Villanova was able to defeat Seton Hall in both matchups this season as the Wildcats won by a 72-63 margin at home and won a 72-71 battle at Seton Hall. Seton Hall has had an outstanding season on the defense end as they rank 70th in the country in scoring defense, and although they’ve given up an average of 78.0 ppg in the tournament, they have performed well against two of the higher scoring offensives in the country in Creighton and Xavier. Villanova is one of the most well rounded teams in the country as they rank in the top 50 in the country in both offensive and defensive FG% and have been outstanding as a team at the FT-line shooting 78.0%. Villanova is a great team however, Seton Hall has been outstanding behind the play of Isaiah Whitehead and although the Pirates might not be able to defeat the Wildcats, I think they’ll be getting enough points that they will be able to cover. Please check back when the line is released but as of right now, I’m leaning towards taking Seton Hall.
Update - ALthough Villinova did an outstanding job of limiting the damage from the Providence starts, I think they'll have trouble containing Isaiah Whitehead in this one and as the line is about where I thought it was going to be, I'm sticking with taking Seton Hall.
