The Coastal Carolina Chanticleers host the Mercer Bears in CIT action on Tuesday.
The Mercer Bears were a contender in the SoCon until a late season slump dropped them to the bottom half of the conference. The Bears dropped seven in a row to end the regular season which cost them a 20 win year. The offense was middle of the row with 72 points on 44.8% with a matching defense that was slightly above average at 69 points on 40.4% shooting so the shot was defended well. The team lost leading scorer Jestin Lewis and his 14 points to suspension which played a part in their late season swoon. Stephon Jelks and his 11.7 points and eight boards and Phillip Leonard (10.8 ppg) are the most likely to up their production.

The Coastal Carolina Chanticleers finished 4th in the Big South and were booted in the conference semifinals to end up with an 18-11 record. However the numbers were not bad with the offense putting up almost 75 points on 46% while 67 points were allowed on a stingy 39.8% which placed the defense at number 66. From what I see this team would do well to lean on their defense with forward out and his 11 points and team high seven rebounds. Elijah Wilson and Shivaughn Wiggins are at the top of the rotation with 13+ points apiece and if both can match these numbers and the secondary scores can help out the offense could be competitive.
Mercer are 0-9 ATS in their last 9 games overall and the over is 7-2 in their last 9 overall while the under is 6-2 in the Bears last 8 non-conference games. The under is 7-3 in Coastal Carolina last 10 home games. Neither team should be at the top of the list as far as betting is concerned but we’ll see what the spread looks like…
