The Furman Paladins open the CIT with a visit from the Louisiana-Monroe Warhawks.
The Louisiana-Monroe Warhawks had a stellar season by all accounts with a second place finish in the Sun Belt before a loss to regular season champion Arkansas-Little Rock in the league title game to finish 20-13. The Warhawks outscored opponents 73-69.8 so there was a little bit of wiggle room but things were not all that close with the team going undefeated over the past month of the season. If the Warhawks play to their numbers achieved over the last four weeks they are dangerous with a sneaky good offense led by Majok Deng with team highs of 18.6 points and seven rebounds. Justin Roberson and Nick Coppola add 14 and eleven points and are candidates to up their scoring.

The Furman Paladins ended up third in the SoCon but lost their momentum towards the end of the season with three consecutive defeats with a win versus North Carolina-Greensboro in the conference quarters before losing to East Tennessee State in the semifinals. The offense averaged 71 points on a solid 45.6% but the defense first Paladins gave up only 66.5 points and were number 17 in defensive rebounding. First and foremost the defensive end of the floor must play well and leading scorer Stephen Croone has to come close to his 17 point average. Devin Sibley, Kris Acox and Matt Rafferty are all capable at the offensive end and have to produce.
UL Monroe are 12-4 ATS in their last 16 games overall and the over is 11-5 in their last 16 overall. The over is 7-1 in Furman last 8 overall and the Paladins are 19-7 ATS in their last 26 home games while going 3-8 ATS in their last 11 Tuesday games. I think the CIT is giving the SoCon a lot of respect with a home game here so we shall see…
