The North Carolina Tar Heels faceoff with the Indiana Hoosiers with an Elite 8 berth at stake.
The Indiana Hoosiers faced rival Kentucky in the Field of 32 and came away with a hard fought 73-67 victory where they pulled ahead in the final minutes. Both teams threatened to pull away several times with the 42% shooting Wildcats relying so much on Tyler Ulis (27 points) that the rest of the lineup were spectators. IU connected at 48% with a few more threes and free throws and were more balanced with three double digit scorers. Thomas Bryant paced the Hoosiers attack with 19 points and five pulls on 6-8 with Yogi Ferrell adding 18 points and five yanks. Troy Williams was next in line with 13 points while OG Anunoby chipped in with seven points.

The North Carolina Tar Heels overcame another slow first half to crush the Providence Friars 85-66 to move on to the Sweet16. The Tar Heels were up four heading to the locker room before putting everything together in a dominating 51-36 second half run. The Friars were limited to just 40% from the floor and that couldn’t compete with the 52.5% accuracy of the Heels which accounted for eight more field goals. Brice Johnson gave North Carolina 21 points and ten rebounds on 7-9 from the floor with Justin Jackson and Joel Berry II scoring 15 points apiece. Isaiah Hicks followed with 13 points and seven boards while Marcus Paige netted another 12 points.
Indiana really looked bad in the Big Ten playoffs but have righted the ship so far while North Carolina has looked okay in the first half of their two games before dominating the second half. I’ll lay the points for now but will look at this closer as the game approaches with injuries to the Hoosiers a question…
