Headed our way on Sunday from Gill Coliseum in Corvallis, the UT San Antonio Roadrunners will be visiting the Oregon State Beavers in college basketball activity.
UT San Antonio comes into this game at 0-1 on the year after dropping their opener Friday to Fresno State 69-66. The Roadrunners were down five at the half and outscored Fresno State 43-41 in the second but couldn’t close the gap.

UT San Antonio got some pretty good statistical performances from their big players in Friday’s game. Nick Allen put up a double-double with 17 points and 14 rebounds, while Byron Frohnen also doubled up for the Roadrunners with 11 points and 11 rebounds of his own. Jeff Beverly chipped in to the UT San Antonio cause with 14 points and eight rebounds, while Giovanni De Nicolao managed 11 points, two rebounds and three assists in the loss.
Over on the Oregon State side, they’re entering play here with a 1-0 record, thanks to an opening-night win at home over the Prairie View A&M Panthers 78-58. The Beavers cruised in that one, outscoring the Panthers 36-22 in the first half and 42-36 in the second half en route to the 20-point victory.
Leading Oregon State, Tres Tinkle put up a great performance with 20 points, 15 rebounds, one assist and a pair of steals. Drew Eubanks helped out the Beavers’ cause with 14 points and eight rebounds with seven blocks, and Jaquori McLaughlin had a solid game with 12 points, three rebounds and six assists.
UT San Antonio is 3-7 ATS in their last 10 games following a straight-up loss, and 2-5 ATS in their last seven games versus a team with a winning percentage above .600. UT San Antonio is also 7-19 ATS in their last 26 games following an ATS win, and 5-15 ATS in their last 20 non-conference games.
Meanwhile, Oregon State is 4-0 ATS in their last four Sunday games, and 5-1 ATS in their last six versus Conference USA. Oregon State is also 10-4 ATS in their last 14 home games, and 16-7 ATS in their last 23 home games versus a team with a losing road record.
UT San Antonio may be able to keep pace for a while in this one, but I don’t see the Roadrunners getting anywhere close to the Beavers’ final score. Tinkle and Eubanks should dominate this game and drive Oregon State to another victory and a cover.
