Coming up on Monday from the Pavilion in Oxford, we’ve got college basketball action headed our way between the Massachusetts Minutemen and the Ole Miss Rebels.
Massachusetts comes into this game with a 1-0 record on the year, winning their opening game against the Massachusetts-Lowell River Hawks on Friday 90-76. The Minutemen were in control most of the game, outscoring the River Hawks 48-37 in the first half and 42-39 in the second.

In their opening victory, Rashaan Holloway led the Massachusetts charge with 21 points and four rebounds with a steal and a block in 17 minutes. Donte Clark and Luwane Pipkins each scored 14 for the Minutemen, with Clark pulling down nine rebounds and four assists and Pipkins bagging four rebounds and three assists.
Over on the Ole Miss side, they’re coming into Monday’s matchup with a 1-0 record as well. The Rebels’ opening victory came on Friday at home against the UT Martin Skyhawks, and it took a while for Ole Miss to get going. The Skyhawks outscored the Rebels 42-39 in the first half, but Ole Miss came back for a 47-41 tally in the second.
Deandre Burnett was tops for Ole Miss in their win, scoring 23 points with two rebounds, two blocks, an assist and a steal, while Terence Davis managed 19 points, six rebounds, two assists, one steal and one block. Rasheed Brooks (12 points) and Cullen Neal (10 points) were in double-figures as well.
Massachusetts is 4-1 ATS in their last five Monday games, and 3-8 ATS in their last 11 games following a straight-up win. Massachusetts is also 0-4 ATS in their last four non-conference games, and 0-5 ATS in their last five versus the Southeastern.
Meanwhile, Ole Miss is 4-1-1 ATS in their last six Monday games, and 8-3 ATS in their last 11 games following an ATS loss. Ole Miss is also 1-4 ATS in their last five games following a straight-up win, and 1-4 ATS in their last five games versus a team with a winning percentage above .600.
It took Ole Miss a little while to find their groove in the first game, which is a little concerning and makes me think they might stumble out of the gate a little bit. The Rebels have some great rebounders on their roster, but if Massachusetts can nail timely and open shots I think the Minutemen can cover here.
