The Northwestern Wildcats are off to a 1-0 start to the season as they thrashed Mississippi Valley State in their opener 94-63. Northwestern shot 50 percent from the floor and 42.3 percent from beyond the 3-point arc while they pounded the boards outrebounding MVSU 43-29. The Eastern Washington Eagles are 1-0 this season after blowing out Linfield College in their opener which was really nothing more than a glorified scrimmage. EWU shot 53.2 percent from the floor and 50 percent from beyond the 3-point arc while blocking 9 shots on their way to the cake walk win. Felix Von Hoffe led Eastern Washington with 21 points in 31 minutes. Cody Benzel had 17 points in 21 minutes for Eastern Washington, Jesse Hunt had 8 points and 8 rebounds, and Jacob Wiley had 8 points and 7 rebounds. Eastern Washington faces a much bigger test here along with a road trip that takes them half way across the country.
Northwestern is 4-0 against the spread in their last 4 games, 5-1 against the spread in their last 6 games outside of the Big Ten, and 5-2 against the spread following a win by 20 or more points. Eastern Washington is 2-6 against the spread in their last 8 games, 0-4 against the spread in their last 8 road games, and 1-5 against the spread against a team with a winning record.
I like this Northwestern team and I see them winning this game but this is a lot of points for a game like this and the play is to take the points with Eastern Washington.
