The Line: Creighton Bluejays +2 -- Over/Under: 148 See the Latest Odds

A pair of ranked teams do Battle as the 11th-ranked Wisconsin Badgers head to Omaha to take on the 20th-ranked Creighton Bluejays on Tuesday night.

The Wisconsin Badgers got their season started right with a 79-47 beatdown on Central Arkansas. 3 Badgers put up double figures in scoring in the opener, with Bronson Koenig leading the way after putting up 16 points on 6 of 12 from the floor, including 4 of 10 from 3-point range. Nigel Hayes followed closely behind with 14 points of his own on 5 of 10 from the floor including 2 of 6 from downtown while making both of his free throw attempts on the night. Zak Showalter rounded out the trio with 10 points on 2 of 3 from the floor but also potted all 5 of his free throws to bring him into double digits. Ethan Happ flirted with the possibility of a double-double in the opener, going 4 for 4 with 8 points and pulling down 9 rebounds to fall just short of the mark. As a team, the Badgers are shooting 47.2% from the floor, including 37.9% from deep and 78.3% from the foul line.

The Creighton Bluejays also kicked off their season with a win following an 89-82 victory over the UMKC Kangaroos. Creighton actually held a 21-point lead at halftime, however they let the Kangaroos storm all the way back before slamming the door late. A total of 5 Bluejays found themselves scoring in double figures, with Marcus Foster leading the way with a 19-point performance on 7 of 14 shooting including 4 of 9 from deep. Maurice Watson Jr. came close to putting up a double-double in the opening game, however just fell 1 assist shy as he posted 9 assists to go along with 17 points on 5 of 11 from the floor including making all 3 of his shots from downtown. Khyri Thomas was extremely efficient, going 5 for 7 from the floor including a pair of makes from beyond the arc while making 4 of 5 free throws for 16 points. Justin Patton and Zach Hanson rounded out the group with Patton putting up 12 points on 4 of 7 from the floor and the same total from the line while also pulling in 8 rebounds and Hanson logging 11 points on 4 of 5 from the floor. As a team, Creighton is shooting 50.8% from the field, including 40% from 3-point range and just under 68% from the charity stripe.

Wisconsin is 12-5 ATS in their last 17 games overall and 1-5 ATS in their last 6 vs. the Big East while the under is 5-1 in their last 6 non-conference games. Creighton is 8-2 ATS in their last 10 vs. the Big Ten and 6-2 ATS in their last 8 non-conference games while the under is 8-2-1 in their last 11 home games.

Although Creighton played the more quality opponent, it almost looked like at a couple points, that Creighton was going to completely blow their 21-point halftime lead. Wisconsin dominated from the opening tip, and I have to think that carries some merit and with it some momentum which is why I’ll back Wisconsin here.

Wisconsin Badgers -2
