Coming up on Monday from the McCarthey Athletic Center in Spokane, the San Diego State Aztecs will visit the Gonzaga Bulldogs in college basketball action.
San Diego State is entering play here with a 1-0 record, thanks to an opening win on Friday against the San Diego Toreros. In that game, San Diego State outscored San Diego 35-33 in the first half and 34-26 in the second.

Leading the way for the Aztecs in their opener was Jeremy Hemsley, who bagged 25 points, four rebounds, three steals and two assists in 28 minutes, while Trey Kell also put up a nice game with 23 points, four rebounds, two assists, a steal and a block in 35 minutes. Dylan Cheatham also chipped in for San Diego State with eight points, four rebounds, a steal, an assist and a block in the game.
Over on the Gonzaga side, they’re entering this Monday matchup with a 1-0 record as well, thanks to a 92-69 win over the Utah Valley Wolverines on Friday. The Bulldogs outscored the Wolverines 45-32 in the first half, and 47-37 in the second on the way to a dominating victory.
In their opening win, Silas Melson led Gonzaga with 17 points, four assists, two steals and two rebounds, while Jordan Mathews logged 16 points, five assists and three rebounds. Przemek Kanowski and Nigel Williams-Goss each scored 14 points for Gonzaga; Kanowski put up seven rebounds and a block while Williams-Goss had eight rebounds, six assists and a steal.
San Diego State is 5-0-1 ATS in their last six Monday games, and 4-1 ATS in their last five road games. San Diego State is also 16-5-2 ATS in their last 23 games following an ATS loss, and 1-4 ATS in their last five versus West Coast.
As for Gonzaga, they’re 11-1 ATS in their last 12 Monday games and 7-1 ATS in their last eight games overall. Gonzaga is also 6-1 ATS in their last seven games following a straight-up win, and 4-1 ATS in their last five home games.
Gonzaga looked great in their opening game, getting solid performances from most of their key guys. Melson and Mathews should be able to continue their across-the-board value in this game, and I don’t think San Diego has much of an answer. I’ll take Gonzaga to cover.
