The Toledo Rockets and the Youngstown State Penguins face off on Tuesday in a battle of Ohio teams.
The Toledo Rockets are 0-1 this season as the lost at St. Joe’s in their opener 77-76. Toledo shot 45.9 percent from the floor and 36.4 percent from beyond the 3-point arc but in the end they fell just short. Jonathan Williams led the Rockets with 18 points in 26 minutes before fouling out. Steve Taylor Jr. had 14 points and 7 rebounds for Toledo, Daniel Dzierzawski had 13 points, and Jaelen Sanford and Jordan Lauf each had 9 points. Toledo was a 2.5 point underdog in their opener so they covered the point spread but it was still a tough loss.

The Youngstown State Penguins opened their season with an upset win beating Akron 90-82. YSU shot 50.8 percent from the floor and 40.7 percent from beyond the 3-point arc and after trailing by 5 points at the half they turned it on to get the win. Cameron Morse led the way for the Penguins scoring 27 points, 4 assists, and 5 steals in 32 minutes. Matt Donlan had 20 points for Youngstown State, Francisco Santiago had 15 points and 7 assists, and Rahim Williams had 9 points and 5 rebounds. Youngstown State was an 8.5 point underdog in their opener but it didn’t seem to affect them in any way.
Toledo is 1-4 against the spread following a loss, 5-2 against the spread against the Horizon League, and 1-4 against the spread against a team with a winning record. Youngstown State is 4-0 against the spread in their last 4 games, 2-5 against the spread in their last 7 road games, and 2-5 against the spread following a win. The underdog has covered the point spread in 5 of the last 6 meetings of these two teams.
This seems like way too many points and this game should be competitive so I will take the points with Youngstown State.
