The Wisconsin-Milwaukee Panthers will have upset on their minds as they take on the Memphis Tigers on Wednesday night.
The Wisconsin-Milwaukee Panthers won their opening game against the D-III Milwaukee School of Engineering by a final score of 88-58. 5 different Panthers found themselves in double digits scoring when the night was over, with Brock Stull leading the way after posting 13 points on 6 for 10 shooting to go along with 11 boards for his first double-double of the season. Cody Wichmann also put up 13 points on 5 for 8 from the field, including 3 for 6 from downtown. Cameron Harvey went 5 for 7 with a 3-pointer for 11 points while Jeremy Johnson also put up 11 points on 2 for 7 shooting, however Johnson went 6 for 7 from the foul line to make up for it. Jeremiah Bell rounded out the group with 10 points on 4 for 10 from the floor including 2 for 6 from 3-point range. The Memphis Tigers won their opening contest against the UTRGV Vaqueros by a final score of 94-75. K.J. Lawson stole the show for Memphis, as one of 4 Tigers to score in double digits on the night. Lawson connected on 8 of 10 field goal attempts, including all 3 from 3-point range while making 6 of 9 from the foul line while pulling down 8 boards to flirt with a double-double. Dedric Lawson actually followed through on his double-double with 15 rebounds to go along with 19 points on 5 of 12 shooting including a 3-pointer and 8 of 11 makes from the charity stripe. Jeremiah Martin connected on 6 of 9 shots from the floor with a 3-pointer while Markel Crawford rounded out the foursome with 11 points on 5 of 8 field goal attempts on the night. As a team, Memphis is shooting 47.8% from the floor, 28% from 3-point range and 60% from the free throw line.
Wisconsin-Milwaukee is 4-0 ATS in their last 4 Wednesday games and 1-3-1 ATS in their last 5 road games while the under is 6-2 in their last 8 road games against a team with a winning home record. Memphis is 4-1 ATS in their last 5 home games and 9-19 ATS in their last 28 games against a team with a winning record while the under is 4-1 in their last 5 overall.
Both of these teams beat down on their competition in the opening game, however Milwaukee beat a D-III team while Memphis destroyed a team from the WAC. If Memphis can ride the momentum into this one, they may be able to run Milwaukee out of the gym, and I think they will. I’ll lay the points with Memphis.
