The Louisiana Monroe Warhawks will travel to the Coors Events Center to take on the Colorado Buffaloes this Thursday night in the Legends Classic.
The Louisiana Monroe Warhawks fell to 1-1 on the season after being defeated by the 23rd ranked Texas Longhorns, 80-59, this past Monday. Louisiana Monroe was able to hang around with the Longhorns early in this one, however, really struggled offensively in the 2nd half as Texas pulled away over the last 10 minutes of the game. Louisiana Monroe shot just 30.4% from the field and 23.5% (8-34) from beyond the arc in the loss. Leading the way for the Warhawks was Travis Munnings who had 9 points, 10 rebounds, and an assist. On the season, Louisiana Monroe has been led by Jordon Harris (16.0 ppg, 2.5 rpg, 2.0 apg), Marvin Jean-Pierre (13.0 ppg, 4.0 rpg, 3.0 apg, 1.5 spg), Travis Munnings (12.5 ppg, 11.5 rpg), and Nick Coppola (11.0 ppg, 4.0 rpg, 6.0 spg). Louisiana Monroe finished last season with a respectable 20-14 record, however, the Warhawks might be in rebuilding mode after losing four starters including, Majok Deng (18.4 ppg, 7.0 rpg) and Justin Roberson (14.5 ppg). Louisiana Monroe will be led by their floor general and only returning starter in Nick Coppola and will home that returning forward Travis Munnings and newcomer Jordon Harris can help pick up some of the offensive production that was lost in the offseason.

The Colorado Buffaloes improved to 2-0 on the season after they defeated the Seattle Redhawks, 67-55, this past Monday. Colorado looked sluggish in their 2nd game of the season but was able to get a few big shots from Josh Fortune last in the game to finally put away the Redhawks. Colorado had trouble scoring the basketball as they shot just 35.8% from the field, 16.7% (3-18) from beyond the arc, and 63.4% (26-41) from the FT-line. Leading the way for Colorado was Wesley Gordon who had a double-double with 11 points and 14 rebounds. On the season, the Buffaloes have been led by Derrick White (12.0 ppg, 4.0 rpg, 3.0 apg), Josh Fortune (11.5 ppg, 5.5 rpg, 2.0 apg, 2.0 spg), Xavier Johnson (9.5 ppg, 6.5 rpg), and Wesley Gordon (9.0 ppg, 13.0 rpg, 1.5 apg). Colorado has one of the best shooters in the Pac-12 in George King who is expected to turn it around after his sluggish start to the season. Colorado has the depth to be a Pac-12 contender this season and although they did lose big-man, Josh Scott, Wesley Gordon looks like has been up to the challenge in providing the Buffaloes a presence in the paint.
The Warhawks are 5-1 ATS in their last 6 Thursday games however, just 0-4 ATS in their last 4 non-conference games. The Buffaloes are 4-1 ATS in their last 5 games following a straight up win and 6-2 ATS in their last 8 games overall.
Louisiana Monroe will need to try and slow down this game if they stand a chance in the tough road environment of the Coors Events Center, however, as I don’t expect the Buffaloes to struggle offensively and turnover the ball over like they did against Seattle, I think the Buffaloes will display how dangerous of a team they can be in this one and that they’ll run away from the Warhawks in the 2nd half. Take Colorado to cover this large spread.
