The SMU Mustangs and Michigan Wolverines clash Friday night in college basketball action at Madison Square Garden.
The SMU Mustangs look for an impressive 4-0 start to the season after beating the Pittsburgh Panthers, 76-67. In the victory, SMU shot 47.6 percent from the field and had just seven turnovers. Semi Ojeleye led SMU with 24 points and five rebounds while Ben Moore had 12 points and two assists. Shake Milton has also scored double-digit points in all three games this season. SMU looks like it's once again going to be a force in the AAC, and it has a nice combination of experience and youth. As long as the SMU Mustangs can get consistent offensive production to go with their aggressive defense, this is a team to look out for this season. The SMU Mustangs have won three straight neutral site games.

The Michigan Wolverines also look for a 4-0 start to the season after beating the Marquette Golden Eagles, 79-61. In the victory, Michigan shot 50 percent from the field and scored 50 first half points. Zak Irvin led the way with 16 points and five assists while Muhammad-Ali Abdur-Rahkman had 15 points and four assists. Mark Donnal and Jon Teske also scored double-digit points in the victory. Michigan has scored no less than 76 points in each of its first three games and can make a statement here with possibly its biggest win yet. If the Michigan Wolverines can shoot as well as they have up to this point, you’re looking at a team that could win the wide open Big Ten. The Michigan Wolverines have won four of their last six neutral site games.
The Wolverines are 1-4 ATS in their last 5 games following a ATS win and 3-8 ATS in their last 11 games following a straight up win. The Mustangs are 8-21 ATS in their last 29 neutral site games and 5-1 ATS in their last 6 games overall. The under is 7-2 in Mustangs last 9 overall and the under is 5-1 in Wolverines last 6 overall.
In a complete toss-up game, I'm going to side with the Michigan Wolverines, but it's important to note I went back and forth a few times before making this pick. I think the Wolverines have slightly more firepower on the offensive end and is better coached under John Beilein. This is a game that I'd probably lay off due to no strong feel, but if I had to pick, I'd side with the Wolverines and the free point.
