The Iona Gaels are off to a 0-1 start to the season after dropping their opener at Florida State. Iona scored 78 points and shot 37.3 percent from the floor including 29 percent from beyond the 3-point arc while defensively they allowed 99 points as the Seminoles lit it up shooting 57.6 percent from the floor. Sam Cassell Jr. led the Gaels with 28 points in in 36 minutes of action. Jordan Washington had 16 points for Iona before fouling out, Jon Severe had 12 points and 5 rebounds, and Ricky McGill had 8 points. Iona can play better than they did in their opener but they are going to have to be much better to get a win here.
Nevada is 5-0-1 against the spread following a game that they covered the point spread, 7-1-1 against the spread in their last 9 non-conference games, and 4-0-1 against the spread following a win. Iona is 7-2 against the spread in their last 9 road games, 11-4 against the spread in their last 15 games, and 7-20 against the spread in their last 27 non-conference games.
I like the schedule Nevada has been playing and how they have been playing against it and I see it being a difference maker in this game and in future games like it.
