The Notre Dame Fighting Irish are off to a 3-0 start to the season with all of their games coming at home and all of them were against soft competition. Notre Dame is averaging 88 points per game and they are shooting 49 percent from the floor and 37.3 percent from beyond the 3-point arc while defensively they are allowing 53.7 points and their opponents are shooting 33.3 percent. V.J. Beacham leads the Irish averaging 19.7 points and 28.3 minutes per game. Bonzie Colson is averaging 19.3 points and 8 rebounds for ND, Steve Vasturia is averaging 12.7 points, and Matt Farrell and Rex Pflueger are each averaging 8.3 points. Notre Dame faces its first stiff test in this one and we should get a better idea of where they stand as far as the big picture this season.
Colorado’s games have gone over in 4 of the last 5 games following a game that they didn’t cover the point spread and in 6 of their last 8 Monday games. Notre Dame is 2-5 against the spread following a win, 1-5 against the spread following a win by 20 or more points, and 0-5 against the spread after allowing less than 50 points in their previous game.
We saw ND’s resilience last year in the NCAA Tournament but I see Colorado as being the more athletic team and I expect them to be fresh and run all day and get the win.
