USA TODAY Sports

The Middle Tennessee Blue Raiders dropped to 2-1 on the season after being defeated by the Tennessee State Tigers, 74-63, this past Saturday. Middle Tennessee had a 30-28 halftime lead however, allowed the Tigers to end the game on a 25-13 run which secured the win for Tennessee State. Middle Tennessee allowed Tennessee State to shoot 51.1% from the field and was outrebounded by the Tigers by a 36-25 margin. Leading the way for the Blue Raiders was JaCorey Williams who had 18 points, 6 rebounds, and 3 steals. On the season, Middle Tennessee is averaging 84.0 ppg on 49.7% shooting from the field. The Blue Raiders are averaging 6.3 three-pointers per game on 33.3% shooting from beyond the arc. Offensively, Middle Tennessee has been led by JaCorey Williams (20.3 ppg, 4.3 rpg), Reggie Upshaw (16.3 ppg, 9.0 rpg, 4.0 apg), Giddy Potts (11.0 ppg, 6.3 rpg. 3.0 apg), and Edward Simpson (7.3 ppg, 2.3 rpg, 1.7 apg). Defensively, Middle Tennessee is allowing their opponents to average 73.0 ppg on 44.6% shooting.

The Rockets are 4-1 ATS in their last 5 games vs. a team with a winning % above .600 however, just 2-5 ATS in their last 7 games overall. The Blue Raiders are 6-2 ATS in their last 8 games following a straight up loss however, the Blue Raiders are 2-7 ATS in their last 9 games vs. a team with a winning% above .600.

Toledo picked up a solid win and must be happy with the early results they’ve gotten from Marquette transfer, Steve Taylor Jr. Middle Tennessee has got some great production from Arkansas transfer JaCorey Williams and returns two of the better players in the C-USA in Reggie Upshaw and Giddy Potts. This has the potential to be a high scoring game however, Middle Tennessee is the better team in this one and I think the Blue Raiders will be able to cover this small spread at home. Take Middle Tennessee to cover.
