The Arkansas-Little Rock Trojans dropped to 3-2 on the season after being defeated by the Pepperdine Waves, 66-65, yesterday afternoon. In a low scoring game, Pepperdine used a 21-7 run midway through the 2nd half to take control of the game and held off the Trojans late for the victory. Arkansas-Little Rock struggled offensively as they shot just 36.4% shooting from the field and 25.0% (3-12) from beyond the arc. Leading the way for the Trojans was Lis Shoshi who had a double-double with 16 points and 10 rebounds. On the season, Arkansas-Little Rock is averaging 77 ppg on 44.4% shooting from the field and 35.1% shooting from beyond the arc. Offensively, the Trojans have been led by Marcus Johnson Jr. (15.2 ppg, 3.8 rpg, 2.0 apg), Lis Shoshi (11.6 ppg, 8.8 rpg, 1.6 bpg), Kemy Osse (11.2 ppg, 3.0 rpg), and Maurius Hill (9.0 ppg, 5.8 rpg, 3.2 apg). The Central Michigan Chippewas suffered their first loss of the season and dropped to 4-1 on the year after being defeated by the St. Bonaventure Bonnies, 102-71, last night. Central Michigan struggled offensively throughout the game and couldn’t fight back after being down by a 53-37 margin at halftime. Central Michigan shot just 39.3% from the field and 21.4% (6-28) from beyond the arc. Leading the way for the Chippewas was Marcus Keene who had 23 points, 3 rebounds, and 3 assists. On the season, Central Michigan is averaging 94 ppg on 44.3% shooting from the field and 30.3% shooting from beyond the arc. Offensively, the Chippewas have been led by Marcus Keene (28.8 ppg, 5.4 rpg, 4.2 apg), Braylon Rayson (17.4 ppg, 5.6 rpg), Cecil Williams (9.4 ppg, 5.6 rpg), and David DiLeo (7.8 ppg, 5.0 rpg, 1.4 apg, 1.4 spg). Defensively, Central Michigan is allowing their opponents to average 72.8 ppg.
The Trojans are 5-2 ATS in their last 7 neutral site games however, are 0-5 ATS in their last 5 games vs. MAC opponents. The Chippewas are 5-1 ATS in their last 6 games vs. a team with a winning straight up record however, just 1-6 ATS in their last 7 neutral site games.
Arkansas-Little Rock looks as if they will once again be one of the tougher defensive teams in the country this season. Central Michigan has a solid duo in Marcus Keefe and Braylon Rayson however, lost a bunch of talent from last year’s club especially in Chris Fowler (16.5 ppg, 5.9 apg). Central Michigan struggled against their first decent opponents of the season in St. Bonaventure and as I think the Trojans will be able to enough on offense against the weak Chippewas defense, I like the Trojans in this one. Take Arkansas-Little rock to cover this small spread.
