The Tennessee Volunteers and the Chaminade Silverswords clash Wednesday in college basketball action at the Lahaina Civic Center.
The Tennessee Volunteers could use a bounce back victory after losing to the Oregon Ducks, 65-69 in overtime. In the losing effort, the Vols shot 37.5 percent from the field and had 25 turnovers. Detrick Mostella led Tennessee with 22 points and nine rebounds while John Fulkerson had 12 points and 10 rebounds. Robert Hubbs III grabbed eight rebounds and Kwe Parker dished two assists in 13 minutes. Despite the losses, the Volunteers have been rather impressive, as they took Oregon to overtime despite a truckload of turnovers and they outplayed the Wisconsin Badgers for about 35 minutes. Remember, the Vols have just three upperclassmen on their roster, so it’s a learning process. The Tennessee Volunteers have lost three straight neutral site games.

The Chaminade Silverswords look for a bounce back performance after losing to the UConn Huskies, 82-93. In the losing effort, Chaminade shot 46 percent from the field and made 14 threes. Rohndell Goodwin led the way with 20 points and six rebounds while Kiran Shastri had 19 points. Sam Daly had 19 points and five assists and Kuany Kuany was another starter to score double-digit points. Chaminade clearly has some guys who can put the ball through the hoop, but I’m not sure that matters if it can’t get stops defensively. The Chaminade Silverswords allowed UConn to shoot 61.3 percent from the field and allowed 48 second half points. That has to be cleaned if up Chaminade is going to have success in this game.
I'm not sure it's wise to lay this type of number with a young Vols team that goes through stretches of questionable basketball. Tennessee is a grind it out team that doesn't seem ready to blow teams out right now. However, the Vols will have the advantage at nearly every position and will have the fresher legs over Chaminade.
I wouldn't bet this game, but the Vols should win this game rather easily.
