The Missouri State Bears look to remain undefeated when they head to the Allstate Arena to take on the DePaul Blue Demons on Wednesday night.

The Missouri State Bears improved to 3-0 after destroying D-III Fontbonne by a final score of 100-27. To put it into perspective, every Bears player that stepped on the floor put up a point. Leading the Bears was Chris Kendrix, who put up 19 points on 5 of 10 from the floor, with all 5 makes coming from behind the 3-point line while making all 4 of his attempts from the free throw line. Kendrix was part of a trio of 3 Bears who registered double figures in the win, followed by Ronnie Rousseau III, who connected on 8 of his 11 attempts from the field while making 1 of 3 from the charity stripe. Ryan Kreklow rounded out the group with 15 points on 4 of 8 shooting, with a pair of 3-pointers on 4 tries while making all 5 of his free throws. Alize Johnson may not have lit the world on fire with just 6 points in 21 minutes, but he did pull down a team-high 9 boards in the win. As a team, Missouri State is in the top 20 in multiple scoring categories with 95.7 points per game (12th in the nation), on 54.5% shooting from the floor (5th best) and 44.4% from 3-point range (17th). They are also making 75.4% of their free throws this season. They are also shining defensively, allowing just 51.3 points per game (5th best in D-I) on 37.7% from the floor, and holding opponents to just 23.9% from behind the arc, the 15th-best mark in the country.

USA TODAY Sports

The DePaul Blue Demons improved to 2-1 on the year, following a 77-59 beat-down of Wisconsin-Milwaukee. DePaul held a small 3-point lead at the half before blowing the doors open in the 2nd half behind 20-point nights from Eli Cain and Billy Garrett Jr. Cain made 7 of 10 shots on the night, including 3 of 5 from downtown to go with 3 makes in 3 tries from the foul line. Garrett on the other hand, made just 6 of his 14 attempts, including 3 of 5 of his own from downtown but made up for it by going a perfect 5 for 5 from the foul line and pulling down a team-high 6 rebounds. Darrick Wood was the only other DePaul player to put up  at least 10 points in the win, as he connected on 4 of 7 from the floor, including 3 of 5 from downtown. After Wood, no other Blue Demon was able to record more than 6 points in the game. As a team, DePaul is scoring 71.3 points per game on 45.9% from the field, 38.6% from beyond the arc and 73.8% from the foul line. On the defensive end, they are allowing just 65.7 points per game, but where the Blue Demons really stand out is holding their opposition to just 23.6% from behind the 3-point line, the 12th-best in the country.

Missouri State is 14-30 ATS in their last 44 non-conference games and 1-4-1 ATS in their last 6 road games while the over is 9-3 in their last 12 overall. DePaul is 6-16 ATS in their last 22 home games and 4-11 ATS in their last 15 vs. the MVC while the over is 11-3 in their last 14 overall.

Missouri State’s numbers look impressive on the surface but have to be taken with a grain of salt as that shellacking of their last opponent, a D-III program counts towards it. Going from a D-III opponent to a team from a power 5 conference in basketball won’t be easy, and I think it gets the better of them as DePaul steals a narrow win here.
