Coming up on Wednesday from the Hard Rock Hotel Riviera Maya in Mexico, the Georgia State Panthers and the Eastern Kentucky Colonels will be meeting up in college basketball action.
Georgia State enters play here with a 2-2 record on the season. The Panthers won their opener against Thomas 111-69, but dropped their next two games 83-65 to Auburn and 64-56 to Purdue. Georgia State was able to bounce back from those losses against NJIT, however with a 74-53 win.

So far this season for the Panthers, Jeremy Hollowed and D’Marcus Simonds are the team’s top scorers, with Hollowed averaging 16.8 PPG and 5.5 RPG and Simonds sitting on 12.5 PPG. Willie Clayton is Georgia State’s top rebounder on 8.3 RPG and 7.3 PPG thus far.
Over on the Eastern Kentucky side, they’re coming into Wednesday’s game with a 2-3 record on the season. The Colonels won their opener against IUPUI 97-87, then dropped games to UNCW, Auburn and Texas Tech before snagging a Tuesday win over Idaho State.
Eastern Kentucky has a trio of players averaging double digits for points so far this year. Nick Mayo leads the Colonels on 19.6 PPG with 6.2 RPG, while Jaylen Babb-Harrison (13.4 PPG; 4.0 RPG) and Asante Gist (13.0 PPG; 3.4 APG; 3.0 RPG) aren’t too far behind. Zach Charles is the Colonels’ top rebounder so far with 7.2 RPG and 7.6 PPG.
Georgia State is 4-14-1 ATS in their last 19 games overall, and the over is 9-2 in the Panthers’ last 11 Wednesday games. Georgia State is also 5-2 ATS in their last seven non-conference games, and 4-14-1 ATS in their last 19 games overall.
Meanwhile, Eastern Kentucky is 6-15 ATS in their last 21 Wednesday games, and 5-1 ATS in their last six neutral-site games. Eastern Kentucky is also 10-4 ATS in their last 14 non-conference games, and 2-5 ATS in their last seven games following an ATS win.
This should be a pretty entertaining game, as both of these teams have similar strengths. Both Georgia State and Eastern Kentucky will need a little help getting over the top with their secondary scoring, and whichever team does that better will cover here. I like Eastern Kentucky to post a solid all-around effort here and get a cover as long as the line isn’t too bad.
