The North Texas Mean Green go on the road to face the Rutgers Scarlet Knight in college basketball.
The North Texas Mean Green have a chance to reach the middle of the standings in the CUSA but a 1-2 record at this point tells us nothing. Losing 83-62 to Drexel Sunday tells us nothing either because we don’t know what the Dragons are made of either. A poor first half and UNT was staring at a 40-21 deficit that they could not cut in to over the final 20 minutes. The Mean Green defense allowed 54% shooting and countered at 41% which added up to a decisive eleven more baskets. Jeremy Combs gave the Mean Green 15 points and five yanks on 4-8 accuracy with J-Mychal Reese tossing in 13 points and posting six helpers while Rickey Brice Jr. chipping in with ten points and snaring five yanks.

Knowing where the Rutgers Scarlet Knights stand in the Big Ten is a mystery that will be solved in due time but you can bet your bottom dollar they are happy over their 4-0 start regardless of the competition. The Scarlet Knights overcame a determined effort from Niagara Sunday in a 78-65 victory that was loosely competitive. Rutgers defense was at the top of their game and their shooting wasn’t bad either as they outshot the Purple Eagles 47%-30.5% which made their five extra looks and more basket a winning effort. Nigel Johnson paced the Rutgers attack with 20 points and five helpers with Mike Williams scoring 12 points and snagging five yanks while Issa Thiam and CJ Gettys combining for 17 points.
North Texas are 3-13-1 ATS in their last 17 road games. The over is 10-2 in Rutgers last 12 home games and the over is 19-7 in Rutgers last 26 overall while the under is 10-4 in Rutgers last 14 non-conference games.
I don’t think North Texas is completely awful and I think if they play well a cover is possible…
