The Weber State Wildcats collide with the Buffalo Bulls in the Great Alaskan Shootout college basketball tourney.
The Weber State Wildcats were one win away from the title game of the Great Alaskan Shootout but they struggled at both ends of the floor in a 76-54 defeat at the hands of the Iona Gaels. The Gaels took a 12 point lead in to the break and never took their foot off the gas pedal behind 45% shooting including 13-25 from long range while the Wildcats 37.8% accuracy and 15 fewer looks at the basket resulted in ten fewer field goals. The Wildcats didn't have any go to scorers with Dusty Baker being the only playerp to reach double figures with 12 points whhile six others contriributed betweeb 6-7 points to provide some balance but not enough scoring.

After knocking off Alaska-Anchorage to open the tournament, the Buffalo Bulls found the going a bit tougher in a 67-62 defeat at the hands of Nevada as a five point underdog. The Wolf Pack trailed by three at the half before finishing the game on a strong run to walk away with the victory. Both squads sank shots in the 36% range so call it great defense or poor shooting but the only difference in the boxscore was the Gaels knocked down seven more long balls. UB received 14 points and eight boards from Blake Hamilton on 3-18 with Willie Conner tossing in 12 while Ikenna Smart and Nick Perkins combining for 19 points and 16 rebounds.
Weber State are 5-12 ATS in their last 17 games overall and Weber State are 8-17 ATS in their last 25 Saturday games. Buffalo are 6-2-1 ATS in their last 9 games overall and the under is 7-3 in Buffalo last 10 non-conference games.
I’ll take a shot with Buffalo although neither team is a proven quantity at this point in time…
