Xavier built a double-digit led in the 2nd half and was able to hang out late with solid Free Throw shooting. Xavier shot 40.7% from the field and 77.8% (14-18) from the FT-Line. Xavier is averaging 5.2 three-pointers per game on 28.0% shooting from beyond the arc. On the season, Xavier has been led by Trevon Bluiett (18.6 ppg, 6.0 rpg, 2.2 apg), J.P. Xavier comes into this matchup with a rebound margin of 7.0 (Ranked T-65th) and average 8.0 spg (Ranked 70th).
The Panthers are 7-0 ATS in their last 7 road games vs. a team with a winning home record and 37-18-4 ATS in their last 59 games overall. The Musketeers are 9-3 ATS in their last 12 Saturday games however, just 1-4 ATS in their last 5 games.
Northern Iowa and Xavier will face off against each other for the 2nd consecutive game after Xavier took home the Championship in the Tire Pros Invitational Championship last Sunday. Northern Iowa lost some major pieces from last year’s squad in Wes Washpun, Matt Bohannon, and Paul Jesperson however, have one of the best guards in the MVC in Jeremy Morgan who had done a bit of everything for the Panthers so far this season. Xavier returned a bunch of talent from last year’s 28-6 squad however, haven’t looked like a top-10 this season as the Musketeers have only one double-digit win this season. Northern Iowa is a good outside shooting team that can defend with the best of them and as the Panthers should be familiar with what Xavier can bring to the table, I like the Panthers and the points in this one.
