The Valparaiso Crusaders look to make it four straight victories on the year after they beat Ball State by a final score of 79-73 to improve to 6-1 on the year. Leading scorer Alec Peters did just that once again, as he put up a game-high 23 points on 6 of 16 from the floor, but made up for it by making 11 of 12 from the foul line to go along with a team-high 8 rebounds. Shane Hammink came 2nd with 16 points, while Lexus Williams came in 3rd with 14 points but amassed a total of 6 steals on the night. Alec Peters leads Valpo with 25.1 points and 9.1 rebounds per game while Lexus Williams leads the Crusaders with 2.7 assists per game. As a team, Valpo is scoring 77 points per game on 41.5% from the field, but are making just 25.5% from behind the arc, the 2nd-worst percentage in the country. To make up for it, the Crusaders are 9th-best in the nation, shooting 81% from the foul line.
Rhode Island is 3-7 ATS in their last 10 non-conference games and 7-18-1 ATS in their last 26 road games while the under is 5-0 in their last 5 vs. the Horizon League. Valparaiso is 0-4 ATS in their last 4 home games and 2-5 ATS in their last 7 games overall while the under is 6-1 in their last 7 Tuesday games.
This is one of the better games on the schedule for Tuesday in my opinion and could go either way. However, Valpo has struggled to cover at home recently and Rhode Island is one of my sleeper picks to do some damage in March if they make it that far.
The line looks about right, but my lean goes to Rhode Island.
