The Denver Pioneers and Wyoming Cowboys clash in college basketball in Wednesday action.
The Denver Pioneers are 2-3 on the year but want to avoid too many early defeats that could set the tone for the entire season. The Pioneers picked up a 72-61 win at Sacramento State last time out as a 1.5 point favorite. The Hornets led by six at the break before DU went on a 47-30 tear over the final 20 minutes to pull away. The Hornets outshot Denver 45%-39% but 16 offensive rebounds helped the team to 17 more looks at the basket which was the deciding factor. Jake Pemberton and Daniel Amigo each gave the Pioneers 17 points with Amigo hauling in ten rebounds while Thomas Neff and CJ Bobbitt combined for 18 points.

I think we’ll know more about the Wyoming Cowboys in a few weeks. I do know the 2-3 Cowboys have lost back to back contests and want to regain some momentum. The Cowboys come off a 71-61 loss at California as a 16 point underdog where they fell behind by 12 at the half and couldn’t cut in to their deficit. The Golden Bears shot the ball well at 46% while Wyoming connected at 37% and hurt themselves on the scoreboard with a 4-23 performance from beyond the arc. Justin James was the best player on the floor as he gave the Cowboys a contest best 28 points on 9-14 and was 3-4 on three pointers while Alan Herndon and Hayden Dalton combined for 21 points and 16 rebounds.
Denver are 8-1 ATS in their last 9 road games and Denver are 8-1 ATS in their last 9 games overall while the under is 19-9 in Denver last 28 road games. The over is 37-15 in Wyoming last 52 home games.
Neither team has much coming back and are considered bottom dwellers in their respective conferences but I’m hoping the Cowboys ceiling is a bit higher…
