The Line: Quinnipiac Bobcats +6 -- Over/Under: See the Latest Odds
The Monmouth Hawks open the MAAC college basketball slate with a trip to the Quinnipiac Bobcats.
According to the experts the Monmouth Hawks shouldn’t be much different then from a year ago which spells trouble for the rest of the MAAC. The 4-2 Hawks have won three in a row after a hard fought 80-77 victory at Holy Cross on Sunday. Neither team played great defense with the Crusaders holding a 55%-50% shooting edge but Hawks came through at the foul line where they hit eight more free throws. Chris Brady saved the Monmouth attack with a game high 21 points and six pulls on 9-12 with Justin Robinson adding 14 points and ten assists. Je’lon Hornbeak was next in line with 12 points while Micah Seaborn gave the Hawks eleven points and six helpers.

I’m not sure where the Quinnipiac Bobcats fit in the MAAC but they definitely could use some momentum. The Bobcats had lost four in a row to begin the season before upsetting Indiana State 80-77 Sunday as a ten points underdog. Both teams sank shots in the 45%-46% range with Quinnipiac hitting more free throws while owning the backboards 42-29. Mikey Dixon was the Bobcats top offensive weapon with 21 points and seven boards on 8-18 with Abdulai Bundu tossing in 15 points and hauling in 12 rebounds while Chaise Daniels and Peter Kiss contributed 12 and eleven points respectively as eight players scored overall.
The under is 9-4 in Quinnipiac last 13 home games. Trends are difficult to come by between two squads that haven’t been in the conference long.
I’ll back supposedly the best team in the conference but I believe there are injuries in this one…
