The Niagara Purple Eagles begin the MAAC college basketball slate with a trip to the Marist Red Foxes.
It’s been quite a few years since the Niagara Purple Eagles have been a factor in the MAAC and a 1-5 start to the new season is not ideal. The Purple Eagles are coming off of an 80-71 defeat at North Texas as a three point underdog. Both teams sank shots in the 42%-43% range but the Mean Green made their living at the stripe where they turned 27 Niagara fouls in to a 26-17 advantage. Kahill Dukes and Matt Scott kept the Purple Eagles competitive with 23 points apiece with Dominic Robb chipping in with nine points and eight rebounds so there was an obvious need for more contributors.

The Marist Red Foxes never draw too many accolades and their performances in the MAAC is the reason. The Red Foxes are trying to rebound from a slow start with wins in three of four after downing Massachusetts Lowell 81-69 on Tuesday. A ten point Marist lead heading to the locker room was enough to get the job done despite the River Hawks holding a 42%-39% shooting edge with ten more free throws being the decisive stat in the boxscore. Khallid Hart paced the Red Foxes attack with 23 points, five yanks and five assists with Ryan Funk adding 20 points and five pulls while Brian Hart tossed in 14 points.
Marist are 3-8-1 ATS in their last 12 home games and Marist are 17-35 ATS in their last 52 Friday games.
If Hart explodes for the Red Foxes a win and a cover should happen but I have watched both teams enough to know better then to bet these games…
