The nighttime session of the first day of the SEC Tournament kicks off as Florida faces Auburn. Florida finished the SEC season by going 9-7 in the conference and finishing a tie for fourth place. It was a challenging season fro Billy Donovan's team as they are on the bubble for the NCAA Tournament and may need to win a few games to impress the committee and get to the dance. Florida lost three in a row to end the season, two of those on the road. Overall Florida was 3-5 on the road in conference games and 2-2 in neutral site games. The Gators struggled with depth for most of the season and it while they have players, they don't go deep into the bench. As a team Florida averages 71.5 points per game as they shoot 44.3 percent from the floor. Defensive Florida holds teams to a respectable 65 points per game while they allowed opponents to shoot 42.4 percent from the floor. Florida has been a streaky team this year so they better hope it's a winning streak this time around. Auburn went 6-10 in SEC play this season and ended in a three way tie for eighth place in the conference. Auburn never really got any kind of momentum going as their longest conference winning streak is two games. The Tigers were just 1-7 in conference road games this season and 1-2 in neutral site games. Auburn has four players averaging double digits and they can light up the scoreboard and as a team they average 75.9 points per game and they shoot 44.4 percent from the field. Defensively Auburn really struggles as they are 304th in average points allowed at 74 points per game and they are 292nd in shooting percentage against and 220th in defensive rebounding. Auburn's defense has been the difference between a real good year and a year with a losing record. Florida probaly doesn't have the depth to compete with the top things this year but it will be a day that never happens that Billy Donavan will throw in the towel. Auburn has been competitve in several games where they melted in the second half, that isn't a good sign .
