Cincinnati Bearcats (17-14) vs Louisville Cardinals (20-11)Big East Tournament Madison Square Garden New York, NYCollege Basketball: Wednesday March 10, 2010 7 PM ESTThe Line: Louisville - 6 Winner Plays: West Virginia 3/11The second day of the Big East Tournament closes out as Cincinnati plays Louisville. Louisville earned a first round bye in the tournament by finishing tied for fifth in the conference with an 11-7 record in Big East play. After a slow start to the season, the Cardinal bounced back with an impressive run which included two wins over regular season conference champ Syracuse. The Cardinals beat Cincinnati earlier this season at Freedom Hall by eight points. Overall Louisville was 405 in conference games away from home and they were 1-0 in their one neutral site game this season. Rick Pitino has a tournament resume which precedes him which is comparable to the all time greatest coaches and while this isn't his greatest team, they are still capable Louisville scores 76.7 points per game which ranks 39th in the nation and they shoot 44.8 percent from the floor. Defensively Louisville allows teams to score 69.6 points per game which ranks them 207th in the country as teams shoot 43 percent against them. The Cardinals are rested and ready and Pitino should have them focused. Cincinnati held on to beat Rutgers to make it to this round as the Scarlet Knights pressed down the end and nearly nipped the Cats. Cincinnati shot just 37.7 percent from the floor and just over 60 percent from the line combined with 30 percent from three point land as it was barely enough to get the win. Ibrahima Thomas grabbed 13 rebounds and lance Stephenson and Jaquon Parker each scored 13 points in the win. As a team Cincinnati has managed to score 69.2 points per game and shoot 43.8 percent from the floor as teams shot 41.1 percent against them and scored 66,6 points per game. Cincinnati has proven they can play with the best teams as they have played the number nine schedule in the country but on the short rest, they'll be tested by the 'Ville. Louisville is 0-5 against the spread in their last five as a favorite and 1-9 against the spread following a cover. Cincinnati is 4-1-1 against the spread in their last six as a neiutral site underdog but just 3-9 against the spread following a win. I think this is a low scoring physical game and I believe that playing on back to back nights and then against this Louisville team is just to much of a challenge for the Bearcats.
