Florida State Seminoles Vs. Miami Hurricanes
2/13/13 Ryan’s Free College Basketball Pick Against the Spread
The Miami Hurricanes head up state to face the Florida State Seminoles on Wednesday night.
Miami is 19-3 (10-0 ACC) on the season after destroying North Carolina at home 87-61 on Saturday afternoon. The Hurricanes played so well on Saturday that they earned a standing ovation from Dwayne Wade and LeBron James, who were sitting court side. Miami improved to 11-0 at home and have won their past four games by at least 22 points. The Hurricanes made a school-record-tying 15 three-pointers and extended their winning streak to 11 games. Sophomore Shane Larkin had 18 points and a career-high nine assists. Kenny Kadji and Durand Scott each had 17 points and six rebounds for the Hurricanes, who shot 54%, the best against North Carolina this season. Miami’s smothering defense held North Carolina, who came in averaging an ACC-best 79.1 points per game, to only 61 points. Miami heads back out on the road for this one where they are 8-1 on the year and are 5-0 on the road in conference play.
Florida State is 13-10 (5-5 ACC) on the year after getting beat bad at Wake Forest 46-71 on Saturday. The Seminoles have had an up and down year to say the least. The last six games look like this: Michael Snaer hit a game-winning shot against Clemson, a 24-points loss at Miami, Snaer hit another game-winning shot against Maryland, a 19-point loss against Duke, Snaer hit another game winning shot at Georgia Tech, and then the defeat at Wake Forest. Florida State only shot 32.6% overall, 30.8% from three-point range, and were just 14-of-23 from the free throw line. Wake Forest, on the other hand, was 49.1% from the field and 41.2% from three-point range. Wake Forest out rebounded the Seminoles 45-25 and forced 17 turnovers compared to the Demon Deacons 14. Michael Snaer and Okaro White each had 13 points for Florida State. After two games on the road the Seminoles will head home where they are 6-6 on the season.
Miami is 6-2 ATS in their last 8 road games. The under is 6-2 in Miami’s last 8 road games. The under is 7-1 in Florida State’s last 8 games overall. Florida State is 1-7 ATS in their last 8 games overall.
Miami has won two out of the last three meetings, including a 24 point win in Miami two weeks ago. Miami out rebounded the Seminoles in their last meeting, while Florida State shot the ball poorly from the field. The Seminoles should shoot better on their home floor, but Miami forces teams into bad shots whether the game is being played at home or away. Miami is on a roll right now and with their veteran leadership and great coaching I don’t seem them slowing down anytime soon. The Hurricanes will make it a long night for the Seminoles and the home crowd may want to make other plans on Wednesday night.
Ryan’s Pick: Miami -4.5
