Fresno State vs Air Force 1/1/22 College Basketball Picks, Predictions, Odds

The Air Force Falcons and the Fresno State Bulldogs meet Saturday in college basketball action from Save Mart Center. Air Force is 8-4 on the year so far. The Falcons beat Utah State in their last game. As for Fresno State, they’re sitting at 10-4 and fresh off a loss to Boise State. Air Force won seven of their first eight games this year, with a lone opener loss to South Dakota as the blemish. The Falcons then hit a losing streak to Montana, Arkansas State and Tarleton State before a win versus Utah State on Wednesday. 

In the Utah State matchup, Air Force posted just 22 points in the first half and 27 more from there but were still able to power out a win 49-47. AJ Walker was the leading scorer on 16 points, and Jake Heidbreder added 14 points with five boards. 

Over on the Fresno State side, they hit a five-game win streak out of the gate this year before a loss to California. The Bulldogs are 5-3 since then; the losses in that stretch have come to San Francisco, Utah and Boise State. 

In the December 28 matchup versus Boise State, the Bulldogs were outscored 35-25 in the first half and couldn’t bridge the gap in a 65-55 loss. Orlando Robinson was the only double-digit Fresno State scorer with 22 points and five rebounds.

Fresno State is 6-0 ATS in their last six at home and 6-2 ATS in their last eight overall. The Bulldogs are 4-1 ATS in their last five after an ATS loss. 

Meanwhile, the Falcons are 0-4 ATS in their last four road games and 4-0 ATS in their last four Saturday games. The under is 5-2 in Air Force’s last seven after an ATS win. 

PICK: I’m going to stay with Fresno State here. Granted, the Bulldogs haven’t been scoring all that well lately. They’ve hit 69 or fewer points in nine of their last 10 outings. That said, this one looks like a lower-scoring game on paper anyway. Air Force has been below 50 points in each of their last four games and probably won’t put up an offensive flurry here either. I like Fresno State a little better in a potentially low total, but this should be an interesting matchup regardless.
