2/7/13 Tyrone’s Free College Basketball Pick Against the Spread
The Mustangs were trumped 50-48 by the 49ers Saturday afternoon. Cal Poly led 30-25 at intermission and by as many as eight during the first 20 minutes. Junior guard Kyle Odister had 11 points for the Mustangs who shot 31.5 percent for the contest.
CP surrendered 47.2. The Mustangs were competitive because of nine more offensive boards and seven fewer turnovers. Cal Poly could have even made more of a dent had they made their free throws 8-of-15. No other Mustang other than Odister had double figures.
UOP slapped 8-12, 4-5 UC Davis with another loss 77-64. The Tigers led wire-to-wire leading by as many as 13. Pacific shot 48.2 percent for the game and forced the Aggies into 10 more TOs, 18-8. The Tigers also collected five more offensive rebounds.
UCD made 21-of-47 field goals, but was really done in by the TOs. UOP had balanced scoring across the board with all starters recording at least eight points. Reserve Tiger junior guard Ross Riviera registered 11.
Pacific is 3-5 during away games this year. The Tigers beat the Aggies earlier this season by 10 and 12-11, 3-8 Cal State Northridge by a dozen for two Big West road wins. UOP also lost to 13-9, 7-4 Hawaii and LBSU by eight and four points.
CP is 7-1 at Robert A. Mott Gym just once going down to 7-13, 1-6 Fresno State 76-67. The Mustangs are a perfect 4-0 versus the Big West in San Luis Obispo discarding their first two conference opponents by less than seven each while rolling by 10 plus their next two.
Cal Poly cruised by 29 points over the Warriors Jan. 24. The Mustangs crushed the Tigers 67-38 in SLO a year ago. Pacific won by 10 last season and 22 points earlier this season in Stockton.
