Albany started out the yer on a five-game skid, falling to Towson, La Salle, Harvard, Eastern Kentucky and Kentucky. Since then it’s been a 2-2 run for the Danes with losses to Kansas State and Yale between wins over Eastern Illinois and Columbia.
In the Columbia matchup on Saturday, Albany had a 40-35 lead at halftime. The Danes were outscored in the second half but hung on for the tight 60-59 win. Leading scorer De’Vondre Perry posted 17 points with seven boards in the victory.
Over on the Boston College side, they went 3-3 in their first half-dozen games, featuring a losing streak to Utah and Rhode Island (twice). The Eagles beat Columbia, South Florida and Notre Dame before a loss to Saint Louis.
In the Saint Louis matchup, the Eagles posted an ugly 36-19 deficit in the first half on the way to a limp 79-68 defeat. Makai Ashton-Langford put up 18 points with three assists, and DeMarr Langford added 14 points and five boards.
The Eagles are 8-3 ATS in their last 11 Monday games and 1-3-1 ATS in their last four after a straight-up loss. Boston College is 6-2 ATS in their last eight at home.
Meanwhile, the Danes are 1-4 ATS in their last five road games and 0-4 ATS in their last four overall. The under is 4-0 in Albany’s last four overall.
PICK: I’m probably staying with Boston College here, even though they’re coming off a bad game. The Eagles shot a reasonable 42.4 percent on the game and out-rebounded the Billikens 32-31 but couldn’t recover from the ugly first half. Boston College has been pretty inconsistent in scoring overall this year; they’ve hit 73 or more in two of their last four, though.
As for Albany, they get credit for a good win against Columbia but I don’t think they’ll be able to keep up here. The Danes haven’t hit more than 64 points all year, and they’ll likely need more than that in this one.
