The Boise State Broncos and the Virginia Tech Hokies meet Thursday in college basketball action from HP Field House. Boise State is 2-1 through three games so far and coming off a 17-point loss to Clemson on Sunday. As for Virginia Tech, they took a blowout win over Wofford in their last outing, improving to 3-1 on the season. Here’s our Boise State vs Virginia Tech prediction.

Boise State Broncos 

The Broncos bagged a couple of wins to start out the year, but one was a close escape. Boise State got past Vanguard 89-55 in their opener pretty easily. Game two versus San Francisco wasn’t such a simple matter however, as Boise State escaped on a 63-58 win. The Broncos out-rebounded the Dons 35-31 (10-7 offensive) in the victory. 

Boise State took their first loss of the season versus Clemson in their Sunday matchup. The Broncos were within three points at the break but faded down the stretch in an 85-68 loss. Chibuzo Agbo put up 18 points and four rebounds to lead the team. Cam Martin added 15 points with seven rebounds and four assists as well.

Virginia Tech Hokies 

Over on the Hokies’ side, they opened the season with a pretty routine 100-55 blowout over Coppin State, but couldn’t topple South Carolina in a 79-77 loss during game two. Virginia Tech bounced back from that one well, taking out Campbell 60-44. The Hokies shot just 21.1 percent from 3-point range in their win over the Camels, but also had just six turnovers. 

Virginia Tech looked better in Sunday’s matchup versus Wofford. The Hokies topped off their 98-76 win with 57 points in the second half. Sean Pedulla led the team on his 21 points, four rebounds and two assists. Lynn Kidd added 18 points, five boards and four assists, while Hunter Cattoor put up 17 points and three assists.

ANDREW’S FREE VIRGINIA TECH VS BOISE STATE PREDICTION 

I’ll probably just stay with the Hokies. Virginia Tech is coming off a great scoring outing versus Wofford, hitting a nice 61.1 percent from the field overall and a scorching 10-of-17 (58.8 percent) from outside. The 22-of-24 (91.7 percent) on free throws was great as well, helping put the game out of reach in the second half. That makes 77 or more points in three of four games so far for the Hokies. 

As for Boise State, they got buried on the boards 40-25 by Clemson and didn’t shoot very well (39.3 percent) in their last game. The Broncos have hit 68 or more points in two of three outings so far though, so I wouldn’t be surprised to see a fairly high total here. Virginia Tech should have the cover in hand if they play well, though.
