Baylor (4-5) vs #2 Texas (9-0)Line: Texas -23.5Baylor picked up a conference road victory with a 40-32 defeat of Missouri last week. It was the first conference win this year for the Bears and showcased freshman quarterback Nick Florence. Florence set a school record with 427 passing yards including three touchdowns. Florence also ran the ball for a forth score. On the flip side, Missouri actually out gained the Bears with 478 total yards from scrimmage, 468 of them through the air. There was 895 total yards of offense between the teams and just 48 of them came on the ground. Texas took a break from the Big 12 last week and beat Central Florida 35-3. It was the Jordan Shipley show as he caught 11 passes for a school record 273 yards and a score. Quarterback Colt McCoy just missed a school record with 470 passing yards, even though he sat out most of the forth quarter to avoid any unnessary risks of injury. Central Florida gained just 151 yards of offense against the Longhorn defense which allowed just a second quarter field goal in the game. Despite giving up just three points in the game, Texas failed to cover the spread. Baylor is 4-4 against the spread this season while Texas is 3-5-1 against the number Baylor is 1-4 ATS in their last 5 home games against Texas Texas is 3-6-1 ATS in their last 10 games Texas is 7-2 ATS in their last 9 games on the road Baylor's 80th ranked offense (24.3 ppg) matches up against the #8 defense of Texas (12.4 ppg) The Longhorn 3rd ranked offense (41 ppg) goes against the 66th ranked Baylor defense (24.7 ppg) Texas failed to cover the 25 point spread in this game last year by winning 45-21. The over/under was 61.5 Texas is pretty secure in their spot for the national title game should they win out. This game certainly is not a roadblock in that regard, but the Longhorns would like to make more of a statement nationally with a blow out win. Baylor is coming off their biggest win of the year and probably won't have the energy to go all in against what is probably an unbeatable team for them. Baylor had their moment, and the moment is gone. Florence won't have the kind of passing success he had against a suspect Missouri squad and the Bears can't stop McCoy and company. The Baylor win last week and the poor history of Texas covering large spreads works in our favor here.
