I know, I know - we all hate those jerks who say, "I knew it!" in hindsight, but that's not gonna stop me now.
As soon as I saw that video of him bobbing and weaving in the stall -- supposedly, Mr. Cool -- I suspected it was over. And when he pranced out onto the track like a 5-gaited Saddlebred at Freedom Hall on stake night, that pretty much sealed it for me. He was just too wound up to blast his way down that very lonnnnnng stretch.
Still, a horse that wins the Derby, runs second in The Preakness (a close second) and then places third in the Belmont and doesn't come out injuredis a strong horse. Too bad he can't contribute to the gene pool.
I'm hoping for a Travers run, then the Breeders Cup in the fall. I know it's only June, but, IMO, we've been watching The Horse of the Year.
