Dale Earnhardt Jr. and Casey Mears have been placed on probation by NASCAR until May 31 for their bumper car act on each other last week in Phoenix.
Mears made contact with Earnhardt with 11 laps to go in the race, which cause Junior to crash. Dale was in the front of the pack at the time, but as a result of the incident finished 31st. After the race was over, Earnhardt spun out Mears on the cool down lap. Mears in turn bumped into Earnhardts car once they reached pit row.
Neither driver or owner were docked points as a result of the probation.
