After Jimmy Johnson's wreck last week, Mark Martin and Jeff Gordon are back in the hunt for the title with just two races to go. I must admit, the first thought that came to me was a conspiracy theory that NASCAR arranged this to make the finish a little interesting. I still won't let go of that because it is such a huge coincidence, but it doesn't change the fact that there is more value to the final two races now that it isn't a blowout Johnson.

Mark Martin is now 73 points behind Johnson and Jeff Gordon is 112 points back.

Sundays race is at the Phoenix International Raceway where guess who is the defending champ. Jimmie Johnson beat Kurt Busch across the line by .295 seconds to claim the victory.  Jamie McMurray was third followed by Carl Edwards and Denny Hamlin.  The race featured 10 cautions for 55 laps and included 9 lead changes among 5 drivers.

Let take a look at who we believe with have the best shot to win at the one mile oval track.

Jimmy Johnson- Well, why not? Johnson has won the past two years and finished second in 2006. You have to go back to 2002 to find a finish outside of the top ten for Johnson here (he finished 15th in 2002).

Kurt Busch- Busch has four top 10 finishes in his last six fall races here including the second place result last year. Kurt is coming off of a win last week.

Dale Earnhardt Jr.-Don't you think NASCAR would love to see Dale win this? Dale won in 2003 and 2004 and finished 6th last year. The #88 team has been running up front much more often as of late and maybe finally catching up to the field with the COT program.
