TV:

It’s Tuesday, which is usually a pretty slow day around the fantasy baseball world. That said, we still saw quite a bit of significant activity from the MLB yesterday, so it’s a good time for a quick review and a look ahead to the upcoming games. With that in mind, here’s the latest from some of the newsmakers this morning.

Kenley Jansen, RP, Los Angeles Dodgers: Jansen put in some extra work yesterday, tossing 1 1/3 innings against the Mets. He managed three strikeouts while nabbing his 18th save of the year, and looking at his recent numbers, that’s just par for the course here. Jansen has retired 32 of the last 33 batters he’s faced, and has racked up an impressive 1.96 ERA and 87 strikeouts as well.

Aroldis Chapman, RP, Cincinnati Reds: Not to be outdone, Chapman also posted a very impressive closing performance at Wrigley Field. He baffled the Cubs hitters in the ninth, posting three strikeouts to preserve his team’s two-run victory. That makes two days in a row that he’s stuck out the side, and he’s done it three times in his last four appearances. Chapman has had some bumps in the road this season, but overall he’s been solid once again. He’s got 28 saves thus far.

Jhoulys Chacin, SP, Colorado Rockies: Chacin didn’t have to do much in his start against the Padres yesterday. He got 14 runs from his offense, and aided his own cause with a nice eight-inning, one earned performance. The victory brings Chacin to 11-6 on the year, and he’s now 2-1 over his last three starts. In that span, he’s given up just four earned runs. His next appearance will be Sunday in Baltimore.

Gordon Beckham, 2B, Chicago White Sox: Don’t look now, but Beckham is producing. He posted yet another solid line in yesterday’s win over Detroit, going 3-for-5 with a run and an RBI. Over the past nine games, Beckham has 12 hits, nine runs and four RBI. He’s rocking a nice .306 average throughout his 229 season at-bats. After the Detroit series, the Sox will be hitting the road to face the Twins this weekend.

Brandon Phillips, 2B, Cincinnati Reds: Let’s head back over to Cincinnati to check in on Phillips. He’s riding high after his two-run homer last night, which was the only scoring in his team’s 2-0 win over the Cubs. That gives Phillips 15 long-balls on the season to go along with his 89 RBI and 56 runs. Another three homers and he’ll match the totals in that category from each of the last three seasons. We’re betting he exceeds that mark.
