Yesterday was a relatively slow day around the MLB, but there’s still plenty to talk about when it comes to the fantasy stars across the league. That said, let’s look forward to the upcoming games and take a look at some of the headline-grabbing stories out there. Here’s the latest on some of the biggest fantasy names in the game.

Tim Lincecum, SP, San Francisco Giants: Lincecum’s hard-luck 2013 continued yesterday, as he posted his 13 loss of the year. He gave up five earned over five innings against the Red Sox, bringing his season-long ERA to 4.53. After tossing eight innings of shutout ball on July 8, Lincecum is now 0-2 in two appearances since then, giving up 11 earned in that span. His matchup on Saturday doesn’t look too promising; he’ll face Francisco Liriano and the Pirates.

Francisco Liriano, SP, Pittsburgh Pirates: Speaking of Francisco Liriano and the Pirates, they fared much better yesterday. It was a seven-inning shutout for Liriano, as he recorded a career-high 13 strikeouts in the victory over the Padres. He’s now 2-0 in his last two outings, completely turning things around since his 10-earned yuck-fest in Colorado on July 9. Liriano will take his 14-5 record into San Francisco Saturday, and we’d say he’s easily got the upper hand in that matchup.

Matt Wieters, C, Baltimore Orioles: Wieters hasn’t been able to deliver much in the batter’s box lately, but he came through yesterday against the Rays. He went 3-for-5 with a homer, a double and two RBI in the victory. The long-ball was Wieters’ 16th of the year, but he’s been a bit of a fantasy disappointment this season. 2013 was supposed to be his breakout campaign (don’t we say that every year?) but it just hasn’t happened.

Brandon Moss, 1B, Oakland Athletics: Moss hit his 19th homer of the season last night against the Mariners, and he did it in dramatic fashion. He hit a walk-off winner in the bottom of the ninth for a 2-1 A’s victory. Overall, he was 2-for-4 in the game. Moss desperately needed the nice line, as he’d only had four hits in his previous seven appearances. His season numbers are still pretty depressing, but he’s good for low-end power here and there.

Yadier Molina, C, St. Louis Cardinals: After a brief slump, Molina is cooking over his last three outings. The latest came last night against the Brewers. He posted four hits in the game--a double and three singles--for a 4-for-5 line. He’s now 8-for-14 in the last trio of appearances with four doubles, four runs and three RBI. Before that, Molina had been hitless in a three-game stretch.
