Fantasy Football Daily: Checking in on Peterson, Gronkowski and more
October 13, 2013
We’ve got just a matter of hours left until Week 6 resumes around the NFL, and there are plenty of fantasy considerations to ponder this afternoon. With that in mind, let’s take a closer look at some of the game-time decisions and deciding factors in the later games that will have a large bearing on your fantasy lineup this week. Here’s the latest.
Rob Gronkowski, TE, New England Patriots: If the late-breaking reports are to be believed, Gronkowski won’t be able to play today against the Saints. Things were going well earlier last week, when it was widely thought he’d make his season debut this afternoon, but things have taken a turn for the negative over the past couple of days.
Gronkowski reportedly still hasn’t been cleared medically as of this morning, which would prevent him from taking the field. There’s also been some talk recently that his camp believes the Pats took a hurried approach to his forearm surgery that may have negatively impacted his recovery. Regardless, owners will have to watch for the active lists before game-time.

Michael Vick, QB, Philadelphia Eagles: Vick won’t be playing today against Tampa Bay, which is unfortunate for his owners. He just hasn’t been able to get over that hamstring injury just yet, which leaves backup Nick Foles as the next candidate to take the snaps.
Considering the fact that Foles is fighting an injury of his own, however (groin), he may not be the greatest fill-in candidate himself. Owners in need of a one-week patch might look in the directions of Ben Roethlisberger or Terrelle Pryor.
Marshawn Lynch, RB, Seattle Seahawks: We’ve been monitoring Lynch over the past couple of days, ever since he ended up missing practice on Friday due to a hip issue (which was an admittedly unexpected injury situation).
On the bright side, it’s looking like he’ll be just fine to play today against the Titans, so owners need not worry too much. Lynch should have a good day against a middle-of-the-road Tennessee rush defense.
Andre Johnson, WR, Houston Texans: Johnson has been a source of concern this week thanks to a shin injury. He missed out on practice Wednesday and Thursday, but was able to get some reps in on Friday. He’s listed as questionable.
For what it’s worth, Johnson says he’ll play today against the Rams, but owners will want to double-check his status before game-time. If he is indeed able to play he has a nice matchup against the St. Louis secondary.
Adrian Peterson, RB, Minnesota Vikings: By all indications that have surfaced since Friday, Peterson will be taking the field today against the Panthers. He attended the Vikings’ walk-through meetings and has maintained that he will be playing.
Peterson has been dealing with the tragic death of his two-year-old son over the past couple of days, a situation that makes football seem relatively trivial.
