Week 8 Gutsy Gameday Starts
Since six teams are on bye and there have been a massive string of injuries, many fantasy owners are having to scour the waiver wire to find players to fill their roster. Here are some players that might be able to fill a roster spot and produce some decent fantasy numbers this week.
QB: Carson Palmer vs Falcons - Palmer has not been very good this year and fantasy owners have decided he is not worthy of a roster spot. This week is looking like an exception to that rule. Palmer has a good matchup on Sunday, and that is why he is roster worthy for this week. The Falcons have given up multiple passing touchdowns in every game this year, and Palmer should able to keep that trend going. Palmer's biggest problem has been turnovers. Only one quarterback, Eli Manning, has thrown more interceptions (15) this year than Palmer (13), but the Falcons defense has only picked off three passes this year. Palmer has a chance to be a nice fantasy starter this week at home against a poor Atlanta secondary.

RB: Andre Ellington vs Falcons - Ellington makes for a great play this week because Mendenhall is out and Ellington is going to start on Sunday. Ellington has produced some solid fantasy games this year, and he has a great matchup this week against the Falcons. Ellington has been a guy that seems to keeping floating around the waiver wire, and if he is available in your league, pick him up and start him. Do not be distracted by his poor performance last week against the Seahawks. Seattle makes most running backs look bad and this week Ellington will get the bulk of the carries and he should also catch several passes out of the backfield. Ellington is by far the best option on the waiver wire to pick up on a week with six teams having a bye.
WR: There are two receivers, Jeremy Kerley at Cincinnati and Kris Durham vs Cowboys, that could be nice sleeper options for this week. Kerley should actually be getting more attention from fantasy owners. Kerley has emerged as the top target on the Jets and he is playing against a beat up Bengals secondary this week. Durham has stepped in and produce well for the LIons in place of Burleson, and if the Lions and Cowboys end up in a shoot this week, then Durham could put up some nice numbers. There are also several interesting plays at wide receiver this week that are dependant on the gameday injury reports. If Jimmy Graham is unable to play for the Saints then Lance Moore makes for a very interesting play against the Bills. If Dwayne Bowe is unable to play for the Chiefs then Donnie Avery would make for an interesting play against the Browns.
TE: Andrew Quarless - Quarless is the backup tight end in Green Bay, and now he is taking over the starting job since Finely is out indefinitely with a neck injury. Last week, Jarrett Boykin stepped in for the Packers and had a great game, and there is no reason that Quarless couldn't follow suit and have a nice game this week. Aaron Rodgers is the type of quarterback that makes everyone he throws to look good, and that is why Quarless has the chance to be a solid fantasy option this week.
DEF: New Orleans Saints vs Bills - The Saints have only lost one game, and their defense is a major reason they have such a dominant record. This week the Saints are well rested after their bye week and they get the Bills with their inexperienced quarterback, Thad Lewis, and an injured C.J. Spiller. The Saints make for a very good fantasy play this week, and they should remain a viable option for the rest of the season.
