Fantasy Football Daily: Checking in on Jones-Drew, Green and more
November 11, 2013
Hopefully your fantasy football team is sitting pretty in Week 10, and doesn’t need a huge performance from anyone in tonight’s edition of “Monday Night Football.” Even if not, we’ve still got a few weeks left before the playoffs, so there’s time to make a run if you need to. That said, let’s take a look at some of the news-making players out there in fantasy land and see what everyone’s up to. Here’s the latest.
Maurice Jones-Drew, RB, Jacksonville Jaguars: Though he’s been difficult to trust at times this season, Jones-Drew has had some pretty good fantasy performances here and there. One such solid outing came yesterday, during which he tallied 41 yards on 21 carries, with another 33 yards through the air. He also scored early on, which was his first TD over the last three games.
That makes two consecutive weeks of double-digit fantasy scoring for Jones-Drew, and he’ll get a tough matchup next week in his quest to make it three. The Cardinals will be coming to town.

Eli Manning, QB, New York Giants: It’s hard to find a good fantasy QB this year. Case in point, Manning was a popular choice for a bye-week or injury replacement this week, and he responded with a flat performance against the Raiders (the same Raiders that gave up seven passing touchdowns to Nick Foles in Week 9). He managed just 140 yards on 12-of-22 passing with one TD and one interception, but missed a few opportunities throughout the game that could have boosted his stats.
That makes four straight games with less than two passing touchdowns for Manning, which is a bad sign going into the Green Bay game next week. Use him if you have to, but don’t expect much.
Nick Foles, QB, Philadelphia Eagles: Since we just mentioned Foles, let’s check in with him as well. Like Manning, he made it to a lot of rosters this week due to byes and injuries, but the results were much better in this case. Foles posted 228 yards on 12-of-18 passing for three touchdowns and no interceptions. Over the past two weeks, he has 10 passing scores, which is pretty difficult to fathom.
Next week, he’ll be at home against Washington in another tasty-looking matchup. Keep rolling with Foles.
Chris Johnson, RB, Tennessee Titans: Also falling short of fantasy expectations yesterday was Johnson, who posted a limp stat line in a loss to the lowly Jags. He got 12 carries for only 30 yards and posted another 43 on five catches. That would have been okay, had he not lost a fumble during the game as well--that killed his fantasy day.
The performance is frustrating given Johnson’s huge line in Week 9 (150 rush yards and two touchdowns). Owners can only hope he’ll bounce back on Thursday against the Colts.
A.J. Green, WR, Cincinnati Bengals: Green had a pretty bad day for most of the game against the Ravens yesterday, but gave his stats a huge boost with a late 51-yard reception and score in his team’s overtime loss. He ended up with 151 yards and the score, which was his sixth on the year. Green also has a string of five straight 100-plus-yard games. Besides Megatron, he’s probably the best fantasy receiver out there.
