Fantasy Football News: Player News and Updates for 11/13/13
Fantasy Football Daily: Checking in on Foles, White, Smith and more
November 13, 2013
The “expect the unexpected” rule definitely applies to fantasy football, and that notion was on full display in Week 10. Many owners are still scratching their heads over the wild and unpredictable performances, making Week 11 another virtual unknown. With that said, let’s take a look at a few of the noteworthy players out there and see if we can get a feel for what to expect from our rosters in the coming days. Here’s the latest.
Dez Bryant, WR, Dallas Cowboys: Bryant owners are probably still smarting over his performance against the Saints this past weekend, when he posted just one catch for 44 yards. It was also the second consecutive week that he was held out of the end zone, and the third consecutive week that his yardage total has gone down. For the record, he was double-teamed most of the night and the O-line protection wasn’t so good.
The good news here is that the Cowboys are more than aware of the problem. Owner Jerry Jones made a point of saying that they’ll be focused on getting Bryant the ball in the upcoming games, which is great since he’s a key part of the offense and one of their best playmakers. After coming off their bye this week, they’ll head to New York to take on the Giants; that one's a pretty solid matchup.

Roddy White, WR, Atlanta Falcons: After sitting out three weeks due to his hamstring injury, White owners were treated to another disappointing performance from the Falcons star, tallying one reception for 20 yards against the Seahawks. There’s a silver lining to this cloud, however, and it bodes well for his fantasy numbers going forward.
White played 55 snaps during the game, looking better than he’s looked pretty much all season, and the coaching staff noticed. You can bet he’ll get more looks against a pretty “meh” pass defense (despite their big-name stars) in Tampa Bay. He’s a lower-end consideration, sure, but if you’re stuck for a WR to stick into that lineup, this could be White’s week.
Geno Smith, QB, New York Jets: Let’s take a look at the Jets-Bills matchup for a moment, specifically Smith’s situation. He’ll be facing the Bills in Buffalo, and in their first meeting during Week 3, he offered a mixed bag of results for fantasy owners. Smith posted a pair of passing touchdowns, but also coughed up two interceptions in a wild 27-20 victory.
The Jets have had two weeks to prepare for this one, so hopefully they’ve got a solid offensive game-plan in place. Even better for Smith, he’ll likely be getting Santonio Holmes back from injury and Kellen Winslow back from suspension. While it’s true the Bills have been much better against the pass recently, Smith isn’t too bad of a low-end option if you’re looking for a replacement in Week 11.
Nick Foles, QB, Philadelphia Eagles: Every week, Foles gains more and more fantasy owners’ trust. Over his past two games, he has a whopping 10 touchdowns, 634 yards passing and zero interceptions. He’s the man of choice if you’re in need of a replacement name due to injury or a Tony Romo bye--that is if he’s still available in your league.
Foles and company will be hosting the Redskins this weekend, and that’s a very tasty matchup. Odds are that the score will run up quickly, as neither team’s defense is very good. That’s great news for Foles owners (and owners of LeSean McCoy as well) as he should have another great outing on tap.
